Driven by his bold vision and expertise, Joseph Perrier founded a singular champagne house.

A house that, for 6 generations, has been guided by its vines and exceptional terroir to create great champagne wines.

The house has always remained faithful to its international tradition (exporting 70% of its bottles) and to its founding values: roots in a town, quality champagne, authenticity and mastery of age-old know-how implemented on 24 hectares of estate vineyards. 

Hailed by the finest tables in Europe, Joseph Perrier champagne has been awarded the prestigious distinction of "Cuvée Royale" by Queen Victoria and King Edward VII.

The fruit of the legacy of its founders and the ambition of its successors, Champagne Joseph Perrier today expresses itself through various cuvées, the most illustrious of which is Cuvée Joséphine. Passionate about its heritage and enthusiastic about the future, Joseph Perrier shines to brighten every moment.

1825-1870

At the end of thee century, François-Alexandre Perrier, originally from Épernay, founded his own trading company in Châlons-en-Champagne. His eldest son, Joseph Perrier, soon followed in his footsteps. After opening his own wine merchant's in Avize in 1825, "Joseph Perrier Fils & Cie", he moved to Châlons-en-Champagne, avenue de Paris, in 1827.. Joseph Perrier bought buildings with thousand-year-old cellars dug into the hillside, which he quickly enlarged. The Joseph Perrier name soon became a benchmark in the competitive champagne market.

Committed to his fellow citizens, Joseph Perrier became general councillor of the department and, finally, mayor of the town.ire of Châlons-en-Champagne from 1854 to 1860..

Émile Armand Perrier joined his father Joseph at the head of the company in 1856. The newspaper L'Illustration gave the company national recognition in 1862, describing it as "one of the most interesting in Champagne".as one of the most interesting in Champagne ".

In 1870, after almost half a century of intense activity at the head of his company, Joseph Perrier left his son, Émile Armand, a legacy of expertise and excellence.

1870-1918

Émile Armand Perrier developed the family business in the aftermath of the conflict with Prussia in 1870.. Eight years later, as a result of his efforts, his champagnes won a gold medal gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1878.. Buoyed by this success, in 1888 one of Émile Armand Perrier's sons, Gabriel, passed on the company to Paul Pithois, owner of vineyards in Cumières, Hautvillers and Damery. 1918-1950

At the end of the Great War, Roger and Pierre, sons of Paul Pithois, take over the management of Joseph Perrierand prepare for its centenary.

Joseph Perrier celebrates its centenary in 1925surrounded by customers and representatives. During the Roaring Twenties, Joseph Perrier created two posters that profoundly marked the brand's identity, inaugurating its festive, feminine imagery.

1950-1979

As sole head of Joseph Perrier, Georges, son of Roger Pithois, modernizes the production facilities with the construction of concrete vats. The house is famous celebrities come to discover its cellarssuch as Joséphine Baker.

Ever innovative, the company created the "giant wooden Joseph Perrier bottle", which became the symbol of the symbol of the Foire de Châlons-en-Champagne from 1959, like a totem that forever seals the destiny of the town and the brand.

In 1979, Jean-Claude Fourmon, nephew of Georges Pithois, joined the company, before taking over as CEO six years later..

Jean-Claude Fourmon reinforces the house's reputation by inviting celebrities such as dancer Carolyn Carlson and Jacques Chirac to discover its exceptional cellars.

Today, the company continues its exceptional adventure with a sixth sixth generation of managementechoing the founding father-son duo of 1825, Benjamin Fourmon, son of Jean-Claude Fourmon, will take over in 2019.
