Our cellars Historical
Since 1825, the magic of champagne has been at work in the house's five kilometers of historic cellars. Excavated in chalk quarries, some of the galleries date back to Gallo-Roman times, while others were dug between 1827 and 1835 by the company's own workers. The cellars are on one level, beneath the hillside, with 89 skylights and the advantage of being naturally regulated by the arboretum. Humidity and temperature are constant, providing an ideal atmosphere for aging wines.
5km of historic
cellars
They are our pride and joy, and still our workplace.
Extending from the cellars, they stretch for almost five kilometers. Their architecture is of Gallo-Roman origin.
Illuminated by 89 natural essors, providing soft light and optimal ventilation, ideal for aging our champagnes.

Gallo-Roman
on one level
Carved out of ancient Gallo-Roman chalk pits on the hillside, the house's cellars are unique in that they are all on one level.
Then comes the ageing period of at least three to five years, essential to obtain the quintessence of the king of wines.
The limestone nature of the cellars creates the moderate temperature required for optimal preservation.
A place steeped in history, where tradition and expertise meet, it offers an exceptional setting for the production of the cuvées for which Joseph Perrier is renowned.
Each bottle rests in a carefully preserved environment, reflecting our commitment to excellence and authenticity.
A House that contributes to the beautification of Champagne
On November 17, 2022, Maison Joseph Perrier was awarded the Pierre Cheval Prize by the Mission Coteaux (UNESCO) in recognition of its investment, development and participation in the preservation of its historic site, which was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2015. Every day, it plays a part in showcasing our region, and also enables the Champagne appellation d'origine contrôlée to shine a little brighter around the world, not to mention its interest in developing wine tourism. The company is becoming more and more involved in local life.
"SARMENTS DES CRAYèRES
Jordane Saget, a French contemporary artist renowned for his chalk-drawn lines, collaborated with the Joseph Perrier house on Cuvée Joséphine 2014 (a limited edition that is no longer available for sale). This association celebrated the 175th anniversary of Joséphine Perrier's marriage.
To mark this artistic convergence, Jordane adorned the entrance door to the historic cellars with his distinctive motifs, establishing a link between his ephemeral chalk art and the Gallo-Roman chalkholes where the champagnes rest.
